LET'S GET STARTED!

This application guide will assist you to apply for UM Mobility Attachment Program.
Application Period: Available throughout the year

ACTION TO BE TAKEN BY APPLICANT

  • Applicant to identify the preferred area of studies that they would like to focus for mobility attachment program.

STAGE 3 : COMPLETE THE PRE-APPLICATION FORM

  • Applicant is required to fill up the UM Mobility Attachment Pre-application form. (Click here)
  • Upon receiving the pre-application, the mobility admission unit (ISC) will contact the respective faculty and expert.

ACTION TO BE TAKEN BY THE RESPECTIVE FACULTY/CENTRE

  • Faculty will process the pre-application submitted by the applicant.
  • Faculty will appoint supervisor based on availability and suitability.
  • Faculty to issue an Acceptance Letter in order for applicant to proceed with online application.

STAGE 6 : ONLINE APPLICATION

Applicant is required to submit a formal application through apply.um.edu.my based on the guideline provided.
Required Supporting Documents for Application:

  1. Recent passport size photograph.
  2. Latest Academic Result/Transcript (must be in English).
  3. A copy of the student's passport (front page with ID).
  4. Confirmation Letter by home university
    • Student's status at home university.
    • Level of study
    • Expected date for graduation.

  5. Insurance
    • if the duration of stay is less than 3 months, an insurance purchased from home country which covered health, death, personal accident and repatriation will suffice; or
    • if the duration of stay is more than 3 months, it is mandatory for the student to be covered by a locally purchased medical health insurance scheme as required by Malaysian Immigration Department (MID) during the Student Mobility Visa application.

STAGE 7 : ACCEPTANCE OF OFFER LETTER

  • ISC will issue Offer Letter to applicant after vetting through the application documents.

STAGE 8 : APPLICATION OF STUDENT MOBILITY VISA AND ENTRY PERMIT

Student Mobility Visa application is applicable for attachment duration more than 3 months (maximum of 1 year).

  • Step 1: Applicant to apply a Student Mobility Visa via Education Malaysia Global Services (EMGS) Portal (Approx. 5 weeks)

The below-mentioned is applicable during COVID-19 as a requirement by the Malaysia Immigration Department (MID) & National Security Council.

  • Step 2: Apply for Travel Authorization Letter (approx. 3 weeks).

  • Step 3: Upon entry to Malaysia, mandatory quarantine of 7 or 10 days depends on the category.

STAGE 9 : COMMENCEMENT OF MOBILITY ATTACHMENT PROGRAM

  • Successful applicant is required to visit International Students and Mobility Centre (ISC) Office to complete the registration process.
